Launch

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Tanks a mill to everyone who showed up for our official opening party last Thursday. There was an incredible turnout, and we went through a shit load of beer and snacks in no time. It was a little too cramped, and a smidge too hot, but we’re not complaining. Thanks to Rich & Chris, to everyone who came, everyone who brought something, everyone who bought something and a special thanks to the lady with the snake.

See yawl on the 7th August for Versus? Round 2 with new t-shirts from turtlehead, Palmer Cash, Threadless, Lazy Oaf, Hans & Fras, Seibei along with some new gear from angry, taschen, lomo and of course some brand new art & photography.

We know it was a bit tough to see the art & tees at times due to overcrowding so here’s a few pics before, during and after the evening.

And as a thanks to everyone we are offering 10% off everything on turtlehead.ie until the 7th Aug (the next Versus?). Just enter the code versus? at the checkout for the discount.

Thursday 17th July 6:30pm – until the beer runs out

We opened our door on saturday, sold some t-shirts, had some fun, and met some great people. Thanks everyone for dropping in.

Versus? officially opens with a launch party on Thursday 17th July, On the night, turtlehead will be launching a new t-shirt by the Irish artist Frankenstyles entitled “Touchy Feely”. First up in the t-shirt category is turtlehead versus Threadless. In the art category it’s Rich Gilligan (photography) versus Chris Judge (illustration). And in the music section, it’s Dublin band Rollers/Sparkers’ new album “Hames” versus their previous album “Second Level Crossing”.

This is an open invite, so anyone can come and partake in great art, slick tees, free beer from Peroni and great food from Diep.

Versus? will pit different cutting-edge t-shirt brands from around the world against turtlehead’s own designs, as well as pitting different artists, photographers and musicians against each other. These t-shirts and artists will be on show for two weeks only, before we bring in 2 new artists and 2 new sets of t-shirts to go head to head.

Some of the artists that will be on show over the summer will include Tracy Emin, The Polyphonic Spree, David Shrigley, Will St. Leger, Dave Comiskey, Gaetan Billault, Chris Judge, Genevieve Gauckler, BrenB, tiny little horse, Rich Gilligan, Will Bryant, Paul Kelly and Frankenstyles.

Cool stuff lined up so far include the community-centered online label, Threadless, and Canadian designer-darlings VEER. Also showcased will be indie brands like hans and fras and Lazy Oaf which have never been sold in Ireland previously.

Versus? will also stock art books, quirky Japanese vinyl toys, satchels and other weird and wonderful art pieces from around the globe.

The shop will also double as a gallery space that will exhibit two different artists “head to head” every fortnight – from illustrators and photographers, to DJs and jewelers. Each artist will be leaving one piece as part of the permanent display.

Versus? 1/2 Smock Alley, (bottom of cow’s lane) Temple bar, Dublin 2.
